He felt her warmth beneath the plaid skirt she was wearing and pushed her onto the bed. Her legs wrapped round his torso.

He gently removed her underclothes, the smell of her body driving him wild. Then he was kissing her again.

Time seemed to stand still and he felt as if he were floating on air.

Was this love? It had been so long . . .

He felt her nails clawing into his back.

‘Paul. Paul. Oh God, please.’

Then he was inside her, riding her. She stared at him, her eyes wide. His hands locked round her waist as his body convulsed and she groaned with pleasure.

He gripped her tightly in his arms, feeling her breasts push against him, and pressed his face into her hair.

They sank back and said nothing, just staying close.

He opened his eyes as she stroked his forehead.

He looked at her silently, realising how much he loved her, desired her. She had surprised him - he needed her.

‘Paul . . . Jessica? Is there - ’

‘No.’
